FAQs
Do I have to be a University of Minnesota student to attend?
No! Bring your friends from home, represent St. Thomas, it makes no difference to us, as long as you buy a ticket and provide an ID upon checking into Yule Ball.
I just bought a ticket, how do I get it?
There is no physical ticket - buying a ticket puts your name on our list, and you'll check in once you arrive as long as your ID matches the name the ticket is under! The first 100 Yule Ball attendees will receive a a physical ticket, as a souvenir.
Is there a coat check?
There will be coat racks and space to place bags. However, there is not a dedicated security guard for the coat racks. Use your best judgement with what valuables you bring and keep on your person! Minnesota Quidditch is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Is this an alcohol friendly event?
Sorry, no. Alcohol will have to be thrown away if security finds it in a bag, and visibly drunk attendees will be asked to leave, not admitted, and not refunded!
What is the security situation?
Five security guards will be present for the entirety of the event, with one checking bags upon entering, so leave the flasks at home!
What's the dress code?
Whatever you’re comfortable in! We like to think its the prom we never had, but there is no dress code. If you like to enjoy your dancing and butter beer in jeans or gowns, it makes no difference to us.
Most people do come in semi-formal wear or costume.
It’s in TCF Stadium????
No! It is in Coffman Memorial Union's Great Hall this year.
Do you feed us?
Sure! We provide snacks and refreshments, including butter beer of course! This will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we can’t promise the food will last until closing time.
What is the vaccination policy?
Per university policy, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is required to be admitted to this event. For university students, staff, and faculty, a U-card is acceptable. For the general public, a vaccination card or a negative third-party COVID-19 test taken in the last 72 hours is sufficient proof of vaccination.
